The Capital Area Library Assistants (CALA) awarded Jennifer Acker the 2014 Outstanding Service Award. Jen is a senior clerk in the interlibrary loan unit of Dwight Marvin Library. She is supervised by Associate Professor Sue Grayson.
Jen serves as a mentor in the IDS Project, a 75-library resource sharing consortium serving New York State. In her role as mentor, Jen visits academic libraries in the region and hosts site visitors to introduce best practices for interlibrary loan workflow and systems configuration. She also is chair of the IDS Project eastern region users group and is a regular contributor to state and national listservs on interlibrary loan practice. Jen co-presented at the IDS Project annual conference in August on an initiative recently implemented at Dwight Marvin Library.
Many employees and students have benefited from Jen’s commitment to outstanding interlibrary loan services. A number of faculty and staff have commented on Jen’s instrumental support in their degree completion as she arranged for access to important books and articles not otherwise available from the Dwight Marvin Library collection.
Jen is an active member of the library’s iPad Tech Team, serves on the campus sustainability committee, and has a leadership role in her son’s school PTA.
Congratulations to Jen! She will receive a plaque and a certificate at a ceremony in the near future.
