The Theatre Club, in conjunction with the college’s Theatre Arts program, will present Steve Martin’s Picasso at the Lapin Agile on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, Nov. 20 – 22, in the Maureen Stapleton Theatre, located in the Siek Campus Center.
All performances are at 7:30 p.m. and tickets will be available at the door.
Admission is $10 for adults, $5 for students and free for Hudson Valley students with ID.
Picasso at the Lapin Agile, Martin’s first full-length play, features the characters of Albert Einstein and Pablo Picasso, who meet at a bar called the Lapin Agile (Nimble Rabbit) in Montmartre, Paris on Oct. 8, 1904. Both men are on the verge of an amazing idea — Einstein will publish his theory of relativity in 1905 and Picasso will paint Les Demoiselles d’Avignon in 1907 — and have a lengthy debate about the value of genius and talent while interacting with a host of other characters.
The Theatre Club production is directed by Rosanne Raneri, club advisor and instructor in Fine Arts, Theater Arts and Broadcast Communications.
