Hudson Valley to undergo technology review

As some of you may be aware, Hudson Valley Community College has engaged the services of CampusWorks, a highly regarded consulting firm that works exclusively with higher education institutions, to conduct a comprehensive review and assessment of the current state of technology, broadly defined, at the college and develop a campus technology strategic plan that ensures the college continues to be a leader in the deployment of current and emerging technologies in the future. The team from Campus Works will examine organization, planning, staffing levels, information security, infrastructure, and deployment (including hardware and software), as well as key academic and administrative business processes.

The first part of this review process will be a Visioning Forum to be held in the BTC Auditorium on Thursday, Dec. 11, from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. and Friday, Dec. 12, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The purpose of this workshop is to engage the campus community in the technology assessment and planning process, familiarize them with technology trends relevant to the college, gather perspectives on Hudson Valley’s distinctive competencies, and articulate the components of the ideal student experience at the college.

The consulting team will return to campus Jan. 26 through 30, 2015 to conduct interviews with Senior Staff; unit heads and their staffs; deans, associate deans, and department chairs; Information Technology Services; Instructional Technologies; faculty, staff, and students; and college committees. In addition to the scheduled campus visits, the team also will review college documents, policies, and procedures.

It is important to have as much input from the campus community as possible to ensure the effectiveness of the review process, so I would encourage you to make every effort be involved and attend the Visioning Forum on Dec. 11 and 12 even if you cannot be there for the entire time.
