Sophomore My’Asia Alston has come up big once again for the Hudson Valley women’s basketball team.
Alston, from Cohoes (Cohoes High), scored 27 points and pulled down 11 rebounds to lead the Vikings to a 78-67 victory over Herkimer Community College last Saturday in Herkimer. Earlier in the week, the 5-foot-7 guard had 25 points and seven rebounds in a 68-66 loss to SUNY-Delhi.
On the season, Alston is averaging 23.6 points a game, which ranks her seventh on the National Junior College Athletic Conference Division III list. She’s also averaging 7.5 rebounds with 72 assists and 62 steals. She’s had four games of 30 points or more with a season-high 32 in a 64-47 victory over Orange CC and has been held to less than double figures just once in 17 games for the 11-6 Vikings.
