President Matonak participates in Invest in SUNY events

President Drew Matonak attended two events this week, helping to promote Invest in SUNY, an initiative calling for the creation of an Investment Fund to benefit the State University of New York system that SUNY Chancellor Nancy Zimpher announced in her annual State of SUNY address.

On March 11, Chancellor Zimpher and SUNY Board of Trustees Chairman Carl McCall hosted a press conference in Albany, one of many scheduled across the state to promote Invest in SUNY.

On March 9, President Matonak addressed a press gathering at University at Albany in partnership with the heads of several local SUNY institutions, calling on state elected officials to continue support of higher education in New York by creating the new Investment Fund in the 2015-16 NYS budget.

Faculty and staff can join the initiative to support the new Investment Fund by writing to state legislators using SUNY’s online advocacy tool available at http://www.suny.edu/invest/.

The Troy Record posted a video of President Matonak at the UAlbany event that can be viewed here. The photo below shows the president with Hannah Brigida Infantado, a current UAlbany student, who earned a Fine Arts degree at Hudson Valley in 2014, at the UAlbany event.
