Attention parents!
Did you know the Office of Community & Professional Education offers an extensive summer camp program? We serve over 800 children each year.
This summer, we are thrilled to have four Hudson Valley faculty members presenting classes.
Nature is Calling
$95/five half-day sessions
Come explore various habitats around the Hudson Valley
campus! Campers will collect leaves, flowers, seeds, insects
and other specimens from three different ecosystems on
campus. We will bring our collections back to the laboratory
and learn how to use field guides and dichotomous keys to
identify them. Campers will pin and label their specimens
into shadow boxes to create a scientific collection that they
can take home at the end of the week! Course fee includes
a $10 materials fee.
Entering grades 3 – 5

“Element”-ary Matters of Chemistry
$110/five half-day sessions
Come investigate the components and properties of matter! Are you interested in knowing what things are made of? Do you love trying science experiments and even designing
your own? Campers will investigate a different component of
matter each day, building up to a Friday full of chemical reactions. From elements to compounds, from homogeneous to heterogeneous mixtures, each day will include hands-on activities and demonstrations that will inspire the budding chemist. Course fee includes a $25 materials fee.

Forensics Crime Scene I
$95/five half-day sessions
Have you ever watched “CSI” or “Law and Order” and wondered, “How did they do that?” Come and find out. Forensics campers will take a crime scene from start to finish; casting impressions, fingerprinting, processing the evidence and interviewing and interrogating our suspects. Come see CSI come to life! Course fee includes a $10 materials fee.
Entering grades 6 – 8

The Science of Sport
$85/five half-day sessions
Ever wonder how NBA and WNBA players can jump so high? How is it possible for a small wooden bat to launch a baseball
350 feet? The answers to these questions (and more!) will be
explored in the “Science of Sport” summer camp. This hands-on camp will allow you to learn about scientific concepts as they relate to sport, including: lever systems, bone and muscle structure, and the composition of Gatorade. Every camper will have the opportunity to measure variables on themselves (like wing span!), use computer applications to analyze sports drinks (there’s an app for that!), as well as try out these scientific principles (let’s play ball!).
Entering grades 6 – 8
70764 Mon. – Fri., 1 – 4 p.m., July 27 – 31
