Hudson Valley Community College will play a role in the new, Rochester-based Integrated Photonics Institute for Manufacturing Innovation, a public-private economic stimulus announced July 27 by NYS Governor Andrew Cuomo and Vice President Joe Biden.
The Photonics Institute is a consortium made up of more than 50 companies, 20 universities, 33 community colleges and 16 non-profits, including General Electric, IBM and Boeing. SUNY, Hudson Valley Community College, Adirondack Community College and Schenectady County Community College also are members of the consortium.
