The Welcome Week Experience debuts with the start of classes on Monday, Aug. 31 and continues with nearly non-stop fun and free events through Friday, Sept. 4. All — students, faculty and staff — are, of course, welcome to participate!
Each day has a theme — Fun Day Monday; Art, Science & Technology Tuesday; Cultural, Spiritual, Service & Wellness Wednesday; Sports Challenge Thursday, and Wind-down Friday! The all-free events include music, entertainment, giveaways, food, friendly competitions and a scavenger hunt (that ends Sept. 11). Plus, student clubs will be recruiting new members throughout the week.
Some highlights are Theatre Club and Choir Club performances, Mindfulness Meditation, Coach’s Free Throw Challenge and a Homerun Derby Whiffle Ball competition with President Drew Matonak, plus music by DJ Cool Cat (with karaoke), TEN 27 jazz trio, Sensamaya (Latin jazz), the Lustre Kings (rockabilly) and Paul Quigley, classical guitarist. Also on the “menu” are pancake breakfasts, lunches (sandwiches, pizza, BBQ chicken, hot dogs and hamburgers) and an ice cream social!
Take a look at the full schedule; there’s something for everyone and more!!
Faculty and staff are asked to bring non-perishable items for the college food pantry. All donations are greatly appreciated as the semester begins. Collection boxes will be located near each day’s activities.
Welcome Week is brought to you by the Student Senate, Student Activities, Cultural Affairs, Faculty Student Association and the President’s Office.
