College will hold first courses at Capital South Campus Center in Albany’s South End

This semester the college will hold off-campus courses at the Capital South Campus Center for the first time.

Two classes with a total of 20 students are running at the site starting this week – Sociology on Wednesday nights and Real World Math on Saturday mornings. Classes run through Dec. 18.

The new 17,500 square foot educational campus center, located at 20 Warren Street, was made possible thanks to a nearly $5 million grant from the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).  The grant partners, Trinity Alliance and the Albany Housing Authority, envision the site as a multi-purpose hub for education, youth programs and community services in the city’s South End neighborhood.

Hudson Valley Community College is one of a dozen partners who will offer training and education at the site.

For more information about the courses being offered, contact the Office of Continuing Education, Summer Sessions and Workforce Development.
