Stewart’s Shops will present a $1,000 check to the college’s Foundation following a ribbon-cutting ceremony at noon on Friday, Nov. 20 as the local corporation opens its newest store at 50 North Greenbush Road.
President Drew Matonak and Mark Mitchell, treasurer of the Foundation’s Board of Directors, will be on hand for the ceremony.
The $1,000 is earmarked by Stewart’s for the Student Emergency Assistance Fund, which is used to help Hudson Valley Community College students facing an emergency or crisis situation. The fund is housed in the Foundation, but administered by the Office of Enrollment Management and Student Development.
Stewart’s will offer a number of specials on opening day, including an ice cream eating contest. Those interested in participating may sign up at the shop anytime* up until the 4 p.m. contest start time when the names of 20 contestants will be drawn. The winner receives a $50 Stewart’s “My Money” card.
*The shop is open beginning Wednesday, Nov. 18.
