“New-in-box” Anker Bluetooth Folio keyboard case for iPad Air (not compatible with iPad Air 2), $30
Do you have an iPad Air? Or are you giving an iPad Air as a gift? This is a nice accessory that really kicks the usefulness of the iPad up a notch. The case snaps the iPad Air in and when you twist the lid to prop the iPad upright, it locks into place with magnets and triggers a Bluetooth connection. You now have an external keyboard and can type with all the typical Mac shortcuts. (It is only as wide as the iPad, so this is by no means a full-size keyboard).
I ordered one of these for my iPad, and this works great for the iOS Office apps, Mail, Zimbra, Chrome, and Safari. I have used it to take notes at IRC meetings, presentations in lecture and lab, and e-mail from off-campus. I love it.
It is also sturdy and provides good protection for bumps, drops, and plain ol’ falling iPads. Not perfect, but better than that little flexible cover.
