The Hudson Valley Community College Guitar Festival is a “hands on” celebration of electric, steel and nylon-string guitar styles and bass guitar.
Workshop facilitators, guitarists and luthiers are selected exclusively from the Capital Region. Styles include blues, bluegrass, classical, flamenco, gypsy jazz, metal, rock and roll, rhythm and blues, roots rockabilly and western swing.
The 2-day festival is Friday and Saturday, April 22 and 23 in the Bulmer Telecommunications Center Auditorium, Meeting Rooms and Viking Video Technologies Studio B.
This year’s festival again includes a Friday Morning Blues Jam with Super 400 — a wonderful opportunity to show off your skill with these internationally acclaimed pro rockers bright and early at 10 am.
Also from 2 -5 p.m. on Friday, Caroline Motherjudge hosts an open mic. So come on out and be a part of the show that features YOU! Sign up in advance and in the BTC lobby before the show.
Full details about the open mic can be found here: HVCC Guitar Festival.
A complete schedule of events can be found here: HVCC Guitarfest Schedule.
Tickets for all events both days (or any part of event) are free for Hudson Valley students faculty and staff, and only $20 for the general public. Available in Gunther 267 or online.
This event is sponsored by the Hudson Valley Community College Cultural Affairs program with special support from Student Activities, Office of Special Events and Facilities Utilization, Viking Video Technologies, Communications and Marketing, Graphics and Printing Services, and the Guitar Festival Committee: Debby Gardner, Mary Ann Gulyas, Mark Petersen and Maria Zemantauski.
