Let’s all celebrate the Commencement season

The academic achievements of nearly 2,000 students will be recognized during Hudson Valley Community College’s 62nd Commencement on Saturday, May 14 in the Joseph L. Bruno stadium. Please take a moment to visit http://www.hvcc.edu/commencement/index.html  for complete information about Commencement and the days preceding it.

There are several important events leading up to Commencement day that may not be as familiar to some on campus, but should not be forgotten:
— 28th annual Special Programs Awards Ceremony — Friday, May 6, noon to 1 p.m.
— Student Honors and Awards Ceremony – Friday, May 13, 6 to 8:30 p.m.

I would like to encourage the entire campus community to participate in as many of these events as possible. You will witness the happiness and pride our students display as they reach a very significant milestone in their lives. Hudson Valley employees make an accessible, affordable and quality education possible for an incredibly diverse group of students; all we do for each and every student has a very positive impact.

And please support your colleagues receiving a variety of prestigious awards by being in the audience at the Faculty/Staff Honors Convocation on Thursday, May 5 from 4:30 to 6 p.m. in the Maureen Stapleton Theatre.

In addition to the events noted above, caps and gowns will be distributed May 4 through 6 in the Siek Campus Center, followed by event rehearsals: Thursday, May 12 at 6 p.m. for Student Honors and Friday, May 13 at 10 a.m. for Commencement. The year-end party follows from 10:30 to 1 p.m. in the Student Pavilion.
