Librarian and library staff member appointed to statewide committees

Two members of the Dwight Marvin Library staff recently were named to statewide committees.

Assistant Professor Katie Jezik, the library’s systems/cataloging librarian, was invited to serve on a statewide committee that will prepare library data migration protocols for the transition from the current library management system used by all 64 SUNY libraries to the next generation system. The committee’s work will result in improved access and efficiencies for students, faculty, and staff throughout SUNY when a new system is implemented.

Jennifer Acker, a senior clerk in the Marvin Library, was tapped to serve as coordinator of regional user groups for the IDS Project, the consortium of academic, public, and research libraries committed to rapid resource sharing. She will attend user group meetings across the state and liaise with member libraries and the executive board to ensure support for member libraries and their implementation of best practices for interlibrary loan workflow.

Jen, the recipient of the 2016 Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Classified Service, also recently was invited to serve on an advisory committee for the Online Computer Library Center, the worldwide library network based in Dublin, Ohio. OCLC is exploring cloud-based systems; Jennifer will provide input from the staff-user perspective on new systems under development.

Congratulations to Katie and Jen on the recognition of their professional expertise and excellence!
