Colleagues,
The Board of Trustees has approved creating the position of Vice President for Administration and Finance, who will supervise a new position of Chief Financial Officer. We currently are searching for the VP for Administration and Finance. After that search is completed, we will search for the Chief Financial Officer.
This action is predicated on the impending retirements of long-time employees Jim LaGatta, vice president for Administration, and Joel Fatato, vice president for Finance. Isaacson, Miller, an executive search firm, has been retained to conduct a national search for a VP for Administration and Finance.
On Tuesday, Oct. 25, representatives from Issacson, Miller will be on campus to hold an open forum for all interested faculty and staff from 1 to 2 p.m. in BTC Meeting Rooms #1 & 2.
The purpose of this forum is to help our search consultants learn about the role of the VP for Administration and Finance, and to gain further understanding of our culture, current environment, and the organizational context in which the new VP will operate.
In particular, they hope to hear your thoughts on the following:
— In hiring this person, what will be the fundamental differences at Hudson Valley one year from now, three years from now and five years from now?
— What are subjective and informal measures that will help determine the success of the individual in the VP of Administration and Finance role?
— Based on the objectives identified, what do you think are the qualifications and experience of an ideal candidate? What is essential and what might be helpful? What are the personal attributes most important for this role?
These questions were developed to help us think about the ways we can tangibly assess candidates and measure the success of a new VP of Administration and Finance.
