Fire safety tip: cooking on campus

Fire Safety Topic: Cooking on Campus
PLEASE DO NOT LEAVE YOUR FOOD UNATTENDED!

We ask if you are cooking in the microwave or in a toaster oven, or if you are lucky to have a stove, do not leave your food unattended.

Several times a year the fire alarms are set off by burned food. The alarm causes the local fire department to be called out when it is not a true emergency. It also disrupts classes and other campus activities no matter what the weather conditions are outside. Lastly, burned food creates a terrible odor that nobody likes.

So, please take the time to stay with your food until it is finished and enjoy your meal or snack

If you have any questions or comments, please contact the Environmental Health and Safety office at 629-7787.
