“Boston Girl” & the HVCC Book Bunch

You are invited to join the HVCC Book Bunch on Monday, Nov. 21 from 2 to 3 p.m. in the Marvin Library Learning Commons Multipurpose Room!

Boston Girl is a coming-of-age novel by Anita Diamant about family ties and values, friendship and feminism told through the eyes of Addie Baum, a young Jewish woman born in 1900 to immigrant parents. Growing up in the North End of Boston, Addie’s personality and intelligence take her to a world of short skirts, movies, celebrity culture and opportunities for women. An 85-year-old Addie tells her life story to her 22-year-old granddaughter, who has asked, “How did you get to be the woman you are today?”

All are welcome. Reading the book in advance of the meeting time is optional. You may find yourself, however, so inspired by historical detail and emotional resonance that you may end up reading the entire book!
