All are welcome to attend a special performance — Musicians of Ma’Alwyck: Celebrating Musical Genius — at noon on Friday, Nov. 18 in the Bulmer Telecommunications Center Auditorium.
As devotees to music performed in 18th and 19th century America, the Musicians of Ma’Alwyck select much of their performance material through research in the special collections housed at the NYS Library. This program celebrates Pierre-Jean Porro (1750-1831), an influential French guitarist, composer and music publisher, Dutch composer and virtuoso violone player Wilhelm de Fesch (1687-1761), and features “Ship Captain,” an early vaudeville piece by Carl Blum. The group is chamber ensemble-in-residence at the Schuyler Mansion, a state historic site in Albany, and at Schenectady County Community College.
Presented free to the public by the Cultural Affairs Program.
