Instructional Resource Committee (IRC) Agenda

Monday, October 18, 2010

1.0 Call to order by sign in

2.0 Approval of meeting minutes for 9/13/10

3.0 Reports/Resource Presentations

3.1 A local vendor and Bob Racette have identified facilities that committee members may find interesting and informative re: a/v design and infrastructure. Bob will present a power point presentation which shows of some of

these sites and others… we can further discuss the possibility of doing a few field trips to somwe of these local sites.

4.0 Unfinished Business

4.1 Speaking to faculty, at Department meetings, would be helpful to promote communication between faculty and the IRC. Could we form a small IRC committee to do this and then report back to the group? Should we have a fairly standardized message that should be presented to these

groups? If so, what should it be?

4.2 Continue discussion of standards for new instructional spaces as well as upgrades of existing ones. Discuss what attributes should be included for an ideal HVCC classroom.

I have received and will present a power point presentation which shows of some of these sites and others… and we can further discuss the possibility of doing a few field trips.

4.4 Classroom space for appropriate number of students. Can some classrooms be limited to seating fewer students?

5.0 Instructional Resources Forum.

This is an open time for committee members, as well as guests, to discuss positive and negative issues regarding their instructional spaces and related resources.

6.0 New Business

6.1 Development of Student response system subcommittee, to further investigate the merits, use and

needs for deployment one or more of these systems at Hudson Valley.

[***These issues tend to be very interrelated.]

–Cost, who buys them (students, departments, college)?

–Use and implementation (ideas, suggestions, policies – how could we help? )

–Which manufacturer would they be purchased from?

–Can more than one system be effectively implemented on campus?

–What else needs to be considered?
