Dear Hudson Valley Community,
It is with a heavy heart that I announce my departure from Hudson Valley Community College to begin a new career. While this transition presents exciting opportunities for me and my family, I am very sad to leave the college.
Over the last five years, I’ve been privileged to get to know so many of you. You shared your hopes, dreams, challenges, fears, and concerns with me. You trusted me to hold a sacred space where anyone, regardless of religion, race or nationality was welcomed.
Students, my hope and prayer for you is that you will bring your whole self to all you do — in the classroom, on the playing field, at work, and at home. Don’t be afraid to be who you are and bring all your gifts to bear. And even as you work to improve your own life, may you also seek ways to better the lives of those around you.
Know that without you, there would be no Hudson Valley Community College. The college is here to serve you. Know that you are cherished and loved by the people here who have dedicated their lives to supporting your educational and life goals. Don’t be afraid to ask for help when you need it. This is probably the single biggest advice I can give you to help you succeed.
Faculty, staff, and administration, I’ve seen up close how dedicated you are to the students you serve. Your genuine love for your students is what makes this community great. Regardless of what’s going on in your own lives, you show up every day to serve your students. You care, not only about their academic success but their life success. May you continue to be strengthened in your work and may you be richly rewarded for it.
Thank you all for making me a part of the Hudson Valley family. I am eternally grateful to you for enriching my own life through our friendships. To that end, I’d love to stay in touch. Please feel free to email me at cylon.george@gmail.com if you’d like to do so.
Blessings, peace, and love be upon you always.
