Requesting Web Updates, Calendar Items and Student Announcements

 

Web Updates and Requests
Please remember to send all web updates and requests to editor@hvcc.edu. Please give as much notice as possible so they may be handled in a timely manner.

Calendar of Event Listings
Are you coordinating an event on-campus? If so, please make sure it’s listed on the Calendar of Events. The main calendar is displayed on various Web pages (Campus Chronicle, Students page, News and Events, home page, etc.). It also is included on the daily email to employees and the weekly email to students that goes out every Monday at 9 a.m.

Our office also uses the calendar to feed to other communication vehicles, such as:

  • Facebook
  • Twitter
  • Route 4 electronic sign

If your event is not listed, you can use the tab in the Campus Chronicle titled “Submit Event.”

Student Announcements
Did you know that you can submit student announcements within the Campus Chronicle interface?*

Every Monday at 9 a.m. students receive an email highlighting announcements, news and events  (similar to the daily email sent to faculty and staff). So, make sure to get your announcements posted by Friday to be included in the weekly email!

Student announcements also are available on the Students webpage and on the MyHudsonValley/Blackboard homepage and students are encouraged to check that daily to see the most recent posts.

How to Submit

  1. Click on the “Submit Article/Student Announcements” tab in the Campus Chronicle.
  2. Post your title and message. Consider including a link to your department webpage, etc.
  3. Check the “Student Announcement” box in the Categories section
    Keep in mind that you can select both a “Campus Announcement” category and a “Student Announcement” category to streamline your communication if the message is pertinent to both groups. You may also submit separate announcements if you’d like to deliver separate messages.

*NOTE: Only announcements related to college business and activities will be posted. Please do not post classified-type announcements or other general interest, unless they are supported by a college club, organization or office. Be sure to include contact information as students do not see the individual’s name who posted the message.
