Friday:  8 a.m. – 5 p.m.

The Center for Access and Assistive Technology (CAAT) would like to take this opportunity to welcome you back and to remind you of the services we provide to students, staff and faculty with disabilities at Hudson Valley Community College.

Extended Hours: Beginning Tuesday, Jan. 17, The Center for Access and Assistive Technology will continue to have extended hours during the academic semester. These extended hours give students, faculty and staff an opportunity to utilize our adaptive computer lab, receive training on the assistive technology, testing accommodations and to provide evening students’ and faculty access to the Center for Access and Assistive Technology.

CAAT Publications: The following brochures are available: Center for Access and Assistive Technology, Deaf and Hard of Hearing, High Functioning Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Policies & Guidelines for Alternative Testing Services. Please contact the Center for Access and Assistive Technology at x7154 and we will mail them to you. These publications provide helpful information for college faculty and staff, to ensure access to college programs and activities for individuals with disabilities.

Please note: The Learning Disabilities office and the CAAT office have merged. All disability services now are located in the CAAT. Donna Totaro, the assistant director/LD specialist, would be happy to assist you with any questions you have regarding learning disabilities.

Handicapped Parking: There currently are 105 handicapped spaces throughout the campus. Please see the locations below:
— A-lot located on the left of Holliday Drive has 8 spaces
— B-lots located on North Drive have 14 spaces throughout the entire lot
— C-lot located near the students pavilion has 2 spaces
— E-lot located on South Drive has 9 spaces to access the Joe Bruno Stadium
— G-lot located on upper South Drive has 9 additional spaces for access to the Joe Bruno Stadium
— H-lot located on the south side of Williams Road as 4 spaces
— J-lot located near Williams Road has 4 spaces for access to Cogan Hall and the Daycare Center; there also is 1 additional space near the side entrance to the Daycare Center.
— N-lot located behind the Campus Center has 10 spaces
— Visitors Lot on Holliday Drive has 4 spaces
— Parking Garage has 16 spaces
— North side of the Conway Ice Rink has 3 spaces
— Fire lane has 15 spaces for access to Lang, Brahan and the New Science Center
— Lapan Hall has 2 spaces
— Cogan Hall has 1 space

Scooters: The Center for Access and Assistive Technology has seven electric scooters available for loan to students, staff and faculty, based on individual need and documented disabilities.

Emergency Evacuation Chairs are strategically placed in buildings throughout the entire campus in the event of an emergency situation.

Distance Learning/Blackboard: Please contact the Distance Learning Department in the Bulmer Telecommunications Center (BTC), room 1042, or call (518) 629-7070 if you have any questions regarding adjustment of settings within Blackboard to provide accommodations. The CAAT and the Distance Learning Department work collaboratively to support both faculty and student needs with reasonable accommodations.
