WDI to host information session on drone (sUAS) technology and new courses

Join the Workforce Development Institute (WDI) and SkyOp for a free information session Feb. 2 on exciting new technology now available for commercial use. Drones, also known as small Unmanned Aircraft Systems, are in the spotlight after Federal Aviation Administration regulations were finally released last summer. Industries like agriculture, construction, insurance, public safety as well as small and entrepreneurial businesses will realize tremendous economic benefit from using this new technology.

Representatives from SkyOp will be on hand to speak about how drone use is changing the economy and creating new jobs. A flight demonstration of various piloting skills will also take place.

All are invited to attend the session on Thursday, Feb. 2 from 6 – 7 p.m. in BTC Meeting Room 1. Registration is preferred, but drop-ins are also welcome. Please call 518-629-4111 or email workforce@hvcc.edu to register for the info session or to learn more about the two new non-credit courses!

Two new drone courses have been scheduled. The courses may be taken sequentially or individually based on each student’s flight skills and interest in employment-related opportunities.
