President Matonak named to Butler County Community College Hall of Fame

 

President Matonak has been named to the Butler County Community College Charles W. Dunaway Pioneer Hall of Fame, Class of 2017. He graduated from BCCC in 1974.

The Hall of Fame was created in 2015 to honor former student-athletes, faculty and staff, coaches and friends who have made outstanding contributions to athletics at the institution. President Matonak was a standout pitcher on the 1972-73 and 1973-74 Pioneer baseball teams, posting a 1.16 ERA and 62 strikeouts in 55 innings during his senior season. During his freshman year, he accumulated 73 strikeouts in 55 innings, which ranked fourth best in the Region and notched a 1.08 ERA. During both seasons, his batting average was over .400 and his team won the 1973 Skyline Conference championship and advanced to the regional tournament during both seasons.

Drew continued his baseball career at The College of Wooster, where he was named to the All Ohio Athletic Conference second team in 1974-75 and All OAC first team in 1975-76. He was twice named his team’s Most Valuable Player and finished his two-year career at Wooster with a record of 18-4.

He plans to attend the induction ceremony on Saturday, May 6 in Butler, Penn.
