The Voices: A Library Lecture Series Committee is pleased to present “The Buzz about Bees” by Tom Della Rocco on Tuesday, April 4 at noon in the BTC Auditorium.
Honey bees are responsible for pollinating up to one third of the fruits and vegetables we eat every day. Besides this most important role, honey bees live a fascinating social life. Honey bees and wild pollinators also are important to the health of the environment. Currently, honey bees and many other pollinators are under stress from a variety of sources. Loss of habitat, parasites, disease and pesticide exposure contribute to the decline in bee populations. Tom Della Rocco, Albany county executive director with the USDA Farm Service Agency, discusses the life of honey bees and the threats they face.
