Latino Youth Conference on Oct. 13

The 5th annual ¡Si, Se Puede! (“Yes, You Can!”)  Latino Youth Conference will be held at Siena College on Saturday, Oct. 13. The free event is directed toward Latino youth and addresses some of the key issues they face. The conference features a full day of workshops, an “Information & College Expo,” peer panel discussions, keynote speakers, food, scholarships and entertainment.

Several staff members from Hudson Valley Community College will be participating in the conference in various capacities.  David Clickner, director of the Learning Centers, will co-host an afternoon workshop with Laudelina Martinez, an adjunct instructor in the English and Modern Language/ESL Department. Together they will explore how community colleges offer many advantages to potential college students with an emphasis on providing pre-college preparation activities that will support the pursuit of higher education. Representatives and peer mentors from the Admission Office also will be on hand to answer questions.

The conference is free to all students in grades 7 through college with registration required before Oct. 9.  For more information, visit www.latinoyouthconference.org.
