4.4 EMSP 230 Internship for the Paramedic – change in contact hours, credit hours, title, course description, prerequisite and prerequisite or corequisite – submitted by Deborah Kufs
EMSP 230 was originally designed to provide an opportunity for students to perform skills and assessments in the real life setting of the field environment.  Assessment of student learning and competency in the internship was dependent upon a cadre of preceptors assigned by the hoisting agencies.  Modern manikins, computerized simulations and the availability of simulation labs with programmed patients duplicate the field environment.  The faculty believes the proposed changes will offer greater control over the course; allow for timely remediation; and best prepare students for state and national certification.

4.5 EMSP 240 Internship, Final Evaluation Phase – 25% or more change in course content, change in course description and prerequisite – submitted by Deborah Kufs.
Change in completion requirements from successful leadership of forty combined advanced and basic ambulance calls to successful leadership of seventeen of the last twenty advanced EMS responses plus successful completion of an oral board exam in front of the Medical director or designee.  Leadership in basic calls will have been assessed during EMSP 230 in simulation.
