The Workforce Development Institute offers AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEMS SERVICE & REPAIR, a 36-hour course providing an in-depth study of the practical aspects of residential and light commercial air conditioning equipment and systems.
Students will learn about heat transfer, good service and installation practices, and the use of instruments and gauges to assist in fault diagnosis. AC Systems Service and Repair provides students with entry level skills in the field of air conditioning installation, service and repair.
Upon completion of the course, students will need to obtain their EPA 608 certification prior to working in the field.
Students are required to bring to class safety glasses with side panels and work gloves.
Prerequisites: 9th grade reading, writing and math skill levels. Students also should have a strong interest in the fundamentals of air conditioning systems.
Tuition: $650
Textbook: Refrigeration & Air Conditioning Technology, 8th edition, by Whitman & Johnson, available for purchase at the Viking’s Cove Bookstore (approximately $160).
Schedule: June 20 – July 19, 2017; Tuesday and Wednesday, 5 – 9 p.m.
