Blackboard upgrade on Tuesday, Aug. 15

Campus Community,

Blackboard will be upgraded starting on Tuesday, Aug. 15. There will be no downtime.

Distance Learning staff has tested the upgraded version and have verified the following issues have been fixed:

  • Display Dates Cannot be Manually Entered for Content Items
  • Discussion Boards — Subscribing to Forums does not work

Since the Course name change was a sporadic issue, we are not sure yet if that has been fixed. During the export/import process, sometimes the course name is changed to the name in the export package. For example, if you export and import a Spring_2017 course, you may see the new Fall_2017 course shell changed to Spring_2017, so you will see 2 Spring_2017 courses in your course list. However, this is a very easy fix, so please just contact DLHelp and we can fix it for you.

Although Blackboard has stated that no downtime will be necessary, please be mindful of this update if you are planning on being online on Aug. 15.

As always, please let us know if you find anything unusual after the upgrade by emailing DLHelp@hvcc.edu or calling 629-7070 (on weekends please contact the Open SUNY Help Desk at http://open.suny.edu/help or calling (518) 320-1300 or 1-844-673-6786.

Thank you,

Susan Gallagher
Director, Distance and Online Learning
