A Retail Oasis for Earth Day

The Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion partners with two NYS Women-Owned Businesses to Celebrate Eco-Conscious Businesses

Alessandra Payne, owner of Salvage & Shine, and Jordon Egleston, owner of Uniquely Jordon Boutique, are joining with Hudson Valley Community College’s Environmental Sustainability Committee to host the Eco-Conscious Retail Oasis, a vendor market showcasing over 20 eco-conscious businesses.

The Eco-Conscious Retail Oasis event is in celebration of Earth Day and will take place on Thursday, April 27, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Siek Campus Center and is open to the public.

“I wanted to build a platform for environmentally sustainable businesses to sell their products.  A place where customers can meet and learn from concerned business owners about how to live a more eco-conscious lifestyle that reduces pollution and protects our planet,” said Alessandra Payne, owner of Salvage & Shine, an eco-conscious wearable art jewelry business.

“After speaking with Alessandra about her vision, I was so excited to be a part of the Eco-Conscious Retail Oasis planning team. This experience has taught me that there are so many other eco-conscious businesses in the Capital Region. I think it’s wonderful that we are creating an eco-conscious event for these eco-conscious businesses to promote their products,” said Jordon Egelston, owner of Uniquely Jordon Boutique, an eco-conscious apparel business.
