Academic Senate to vote Dec. 12 on NSO Task Force recommendations

 

The Academic Senate will vote on the recommendations of the New Student Orientation Assessment Task Force at its next meeting on Monday, Dec. 12 at 2:15 in the BTC meeting rooms.

All members of the campus community are invited to attend and participate in Academic Senate meetings. The Task Force report and other business for the December meeting may be viewed on Blackboard in the Senate community under the Senate Meetings tab, click on Dec. 12. A microphone will be set up in the visitor’s gallery for the use of non-members.

Please know that your participation in the business of the Academic Senate is welcome and critical to shared governance on our campus.

Below is an excerpt from the Academic Senate Bylaws which defines the role of non-members of meetings.

Section 10. Attendance of Non-members at Meetings

The Senate is designed to expedite legislative efficiency without limiting the rights of any segment of the campus community. To achieve this purpose there shall be an Open Gallery and an Invited Gallery.

OPEN GALLERY. The Open Gallery shall contain those non-members who have an interest in attending and/or participating in the meeting. The members of the Open Gallery shall be granted the right to participate in debate when recognized by the Chair but will not vote.

INVITED GALLERY. The Invited Gallery shall contain those non-members who are attending the meeting at the invitation of the Senate Chairperson…
