The ACE machines needed for classes this morning have been built with the Windows 7 image. As with any new deployment, it is not without its litany of issues and quirks.
Please be advised of the following:
* Printing may have some issues on certain machines as we complete their configuration.
* Some machines in BTC, Hudson and Marvin may have some incomplete jobs and may reboot on the user one or more times once it regains contact with the Management system.
* The PC’s in Tec Smart still have the Windows XP build and will be rebuilt with Windows 7 shortly.
* The DRC machines that are available around the ACE classrooms are NOT yet rebuilt with Windows 7. We are planning that for today.
In addition to the above, some machines seem to take three minutes to complete their tasks from the time the Windows splash screen is displayed until the option to press CTRL-ALT-DEL is displayed. We are looking into the cause of this issue.
Please contact Computer Services at ext. 7311 with any problems you experience in the classroom. The main desk is the focal point for all ACE problems. Each will be triaged and assigned to appropriate personnel.
Thank you,
