The American Cancer Society is looking for someone from HVCC to help in raising money for and participate in the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk.
There is a kick-off breakfast at the Marriott on Wolf Road on Wednesday, Aug. 15 from 7 to 8:30 a.m. for the person who chairs this fundraiser. Basically the responsibility lies in creating a team and soliciting contributions. Then the team participates in the walk in Washington Park on Sunday, Oct. 21 at noon.
Last year our team raised a decent amount contributing to the total amount raised of $1,070,000 and joined the more than 15,000 people who came out on event day to walk! Erin Manning and I co-captained last year, but are unable to do so this year.
If you are interested in heading this, please contact me as soon as possible and I will put you in touch with the American Cancer Society to register for the kick-off breakfast. They are currently waiting to hear back from me and were very appreciative of last year’s efforts. In the event someone is willing to step up to this challenge, I promise to make the first donation!
