The Animal Outreach Club thanks the Hudson Valley Community College community for a record-setting 2015 holiday sale totaling $1,040! Tremendous positive energy and goodwill propelled the event!
Special thanks to Deanne Martocci and the staff of the Center for Access and Assistive Technology for graciously allowing us to store items for the sale in their staff room; Alice Busman for tireless set up; Deb Gardner, Kit Haynes, Tanya Hicks and Alicia Phelan for accepting and carting numerous donations to the Campus Center; Louis Coplin, Alfredo Balarin and Katherine Burkart of Student Activities for their consistent support; Jennifer Acker, Suzanne Brownrigg, Bev Cootware, Sue Grayson, Donna Hall, Scott Hathaway, Polly Karis, Cindy Koman, Kris Lewis, Amy McEwing, Deb Renfrew, Susan Smith, and Phil Suriano (plus many others unfortunately unknown!) for your generous and beautiful donations; Security Officers Steve Denio and Mark Flavin for tracking down the owner of a debit card left in the CTR ATM; Bert, Chris and Tanya from Physical Plant for helping us manage the unexpected number of donations; and Mara LeFebvre for her watchful eye. If I have left anyone out, it is not because you don’t count, but because it’s been a long but gratifying day.
So many HVCC employees purchased items or simply made a donation, that we can’t list you all, but you know who you are.
Hats off to Joan Russo for starting the sale years ago and setting the precedent for a much-anticipated annual event.
Thank you Animal Outreach Club co-adviser Alice Malavasic for your shining spirit.
Above all, thank you to our extraordinary and dedicated students (in order from left to right): Liana; Brittany, vice president; Bonnie; Julie, treasurer; Diane, secretary; Navera, president, and Archimedes, Liz, Ashley and Kyle.
The Animal Outreach Club meets at 2 p.m. Mondays in BRN 213. Members also will gather at 10 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 13 in the Hudson Hall Construction Lab to paint and insulate winter houses that will be placed at feral cat colonies in the area. The outdoor shelters were built by Chris LaPlante’s building construction students.
