Dear members of the Faculty Association:
On behalf of the Negotiation Committee, we are very happy to announce that the Association and the College have reached tentative agreement on a new contract. An email with proposed terms and a copy of the tentative agreement has been sent to your HVCC email address. Please review the agreement and its terms carefully.
Next steps (under the contract ratification process specified in our bylaws): a special meeting of the FA membership is called for Monday, Aug. 12, 2024 to present and discuss the tentative agreement. Immediately following that meeting, members will have one week to vote on the agreement.
We will hold the Contract Ratification meeting Monday, Aug. 12, 2024 at 3 p.m. This meeting will be held on Zoom and will be open to all current members of the Association. Please plan to join us for that meeting if you are available. Voting on the tentative agreement will open immediately following the Aug. 12 meeting and close on Monday, Aug. 19, 2024 at 4 p.m. Voting will be by electronic ballot (Survey Monkey). If the membership votes to ratify the contract, it will then be sent to the HVCC Board of Trustees and Rensselaer County Legislature for their approval.
Lastly, we believe this agreement marks a new day and a new recognition by the administration of the work we do, day in, day out, in service to our students and the College. This agreement is the product of a lot of time and effort by everyone on our two teams: Patty Blacklock, Greg Sausville, Jen Eaton, Rachel Bornn, and attorney Larry Schaefer for all their work at the bargaining table to help get this done, and Candace Eustace, Basia Reynolds, and Joel Glickman for their valuable input and support from the Advisory team.
In the meantime, we wish you a pleasant and enjoyable summer, and we look forward to seeing you at the Aug. 12 Zoom meeting.
