Announcing Viking Chat

 

Beginning this week, the college will be implementing a chatbot feature on some of its web pages. The Viking Chat virtual chatbot agent is available 24/7/365 and is designed to help answer enrollment-related questions and guide students to campus resources.

Viking Chat is easy to use

The Viking Chat will appear as a blue box that pops up on a Hudson Valley webpage with the message, “I’m here to answer your enrollment-related questions. How can I help?” Viking Chat is learning to answer questions for Financial Aid, Registration, Student Accounts, Admissions and Academic Advising. Click on the box and type your questions.

How to ask a question

It’s best to use a question format when looking for information through a chatbot, and keep it simple.  Viking Chat is not a real person but can help students find the answers they need.  If the chatbot cannot answer a question, it will help contact with the relevant department for more information.

Is Viking Chat perfect?

No. The chatbot will continue to learn and get better at answering your questions accurately. If Viking Chat does not know the answer to your question, it will help you to submit your question for an answer from a human.  The more you use it the smarter it becomes. Viking Chat will also provide suggestions and links when responding to your question.
