The Rensselaer County Sexual Assault Response Team (SART) presents its eighth annual conference on Thursday, March 8 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Bulmer Telecommunications Center Auditorium. All are welcome to attend, but registration is required (see link below).
Entitled Joining Forces: Reducing & Responding to Sexual Assault Across Disciplines, the event is hosted by Hudson Valley Community College’s Public Safety Department.
Students and professionals from healthcare, law enforcement, counseling, advocacy, higher education, and prosecution from throughout New York State are welcome. Attendees may choose from a variety of workshops which fit their interests and training needs, and will also have the opportunity to network with other professionals.
The Rensselaer County SART is a multidisciplinary team dedicated to promoting a consistent, victim-centered response to sexual assault, and working to end sexual assault in our community. Education and collaborative practice among team members are a key focus in assisting the sexual assault victim following a sexual assault. The team ensures that confidentiality, victim rights, and choices are maintained throughout each step in the healthcare, advocacy, legal, and judicial processes following a sexual assault.
