As many of you know, I work with a lovely group of refugees from Burma. Among that group are two young women who are working toward higher education and both have expressed an interest in the Nursing Assistant Program offered through EOC.
I’m looking for volunteers for the following:
Swe Swe is 20 and is attending Albany High School and needs help in all subjects but math (she already has a math tutor, one of HVCC’s own). Specifically and more immediately, she needs tutoring for the Regents exams which will be held in about three weeks. Beyond that, throughout the summer, she could use tutors in English, History and Science.
Sui Hnem is 29 and has a high school diploma from her home country. She will be taking formal ESL classes beginning in July, but could really benefit from something sooner.
