Arm of the Sea Theater presents “DIRT – The Secret Life of Soil,” the newest of the company’s live mask and puppet productions, on Saturday, May 6. The noon performance, open free of charge to the public, is in the Maureen Stapleton Theatre.
“DIRT” is a theatrical experience for all ages that combines over-sized masks and puppet characters (12” to 12’ tall!), visual storytelling and live music in a fun-filled tale about the secret life of soil. Where does food “come from” and from what is it made? Fusing cutting-edge science and age-old puppetry, “DIRT” takes audiences on an extravagant journey of discovery into the Great Underneath to reveal the epic alchemy of plants, the fungi’s dance of mutual delight, and the microbes’ herculean labors, reminding mere mortals just how important soil is to survival.
Presented by the Cultural Affairs Program.
