The Assessment and Institutional Effectiveness (AIE) Committee met on Nov. 27. The meeting minutes are as follows:
Dr. Geehan opened the meeting at 1 p.m. She requested that the committee call upon its campus-wide knowledge and experience to assist in assuring that Hudson Valley Community College is in compliance with the newly established Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE) Standards for accreditation. To accomplish this, she referred to a multi-page spreadsheet which was populated with the seven Standards along with a section in which to document which Hudson Valley organization would be responsible for establishing and maintaining compliance with the Standards.
The overall purpose of this ongoing effort will be to ensure that the college meets or exceeds all required Standards in preparation for the next MSCHE visit to the college, which is currently slated for 2023. It is important to note that not only will compliance be expected by the Commission, but a demonstration of our efforts to critically assess our means of attaining compliance also is required. With this in mind, we expect to spend considerable time and effort in future meetings addressing these needs.
The committee went through Standards I (Mission and Goals) and II (Ethics and Integrity), flagging those criteria that are in question. At the next meeting the group will continue the process.
The meeting was adjourned at 2 p.m.
The next meeting will be Tuesday, Dec 11, the final meeting for Fall 2018.
