The Assessment and Institutional Effectiveness (AIE) Committee met on March 10 at 1 p.m. The meeting minutes are as follows:
Dr. Margaret Geehan opened the meeting at 1 p.m. She provided an update on Middle States. Everything looks good, however a co-chair is still being actively sought to work with Dr. Geehan for their next visit. She also provided an update on Nuventive, which is going well thanks to everyone’s cooperation.
A brief update was provided regarding the Student Satisfaction Survey for this year; a final copy has been sent to the committee for approval. The survey will be sent to students on March 23** and will remain open online until Easter break. There was also a brief discussion about the creation of a College Policy Handbook, as well as departmental-level policy guides. It was also noted that some departments now have out-of-date handbooks that may need to be updated.
The remainder of the meeting was spent discussing the results of the Employee Satisfaction Survey for 2020, which was recently completed. In many areas, improvement was seen, even if it was only by a small amount. Committee members observed that fewer people are providing identifying information on their surveys (but this has seemingly leveled out rather than continue to decrease) and that satisfaction increased in regards to orientation, technical support and services, and training. It was suggested that the question “How satisfied are you with the college’s communication, both vertically and horizontally?” be made into two questions for the future. The highest means of satisfaction: safety of campus, technology, cultural events, and extracurricular student activities.
Finally, it was suggested that questions pertaining to the “psychological safety” and workplace well-being of employees be included in the future, because recent studies have revealed that how psychologically safe employees feel is one of the greatest factors as to how productive they are.
The meeting adjourned at 1:50 p.m.
**Please note: Due to the extended spring break, the survey will be sent out on March 29 and remain open until April 20.
Subsequent meeting dates: March 31, April 21, May 5, May 19
