On Saturday, April 13, Joel Glickman, Associate Professor in the Computer Science and Mathematics (CSM) department, presented at the annual New York State Mathematics Association of Two-Year Colleges (NYSMATYC) conference. In the discussion titled “AI and Math Instruction: A Pilot Study Using Khanmigo,” he shared the promising results of HVCC’s Fall 2023 pilot program, which focused on improving learning outcomes in math education by integrating artificial intelligence (AI) in the classroom. Professor Glickman’s presentation garnered significant interest from math colleagues at other New York State institutions, highlighting the potential of AI when applied effectively in teaching math. Currently, he is spearheading another pilot involving four CSM faculty members to further explore AI’s efficacy in enhancing learning outcomes across a range of math courses, with the results expected to be available this summer.
