Author Anne Lamott visits campus today!

The Cultural Affairs Program, in association with the Department of English, Modern Languages and English as a Second Language, is pleased to present an afternoon with author Anne Lamott this Friday in the Bulmer Telecommunications Center auditorium.

The event will begin at 11 am, followed by a reception and book signing. This is expected to be a very well attended program, so come early to secure your seat in the auditorium. Additional seating will be available in the adjacent meeting rooms, where Viking Video Technologies will be simulcasting Ms. Lamott’s presentation.

Whether through her novels or non-fiction, Anne Lamott uses humor to get her messages across about motherhood, death, loss, alcoholism, spirituality and other life-engaging subjects. It is said that “in her books and in person, she lifts, comforts and inspires, all the while keeping us laughing.” Lamott will talk about her work and life, with a question and answer session to follow.

Her most recent work of non-fiction is “Help, Thanks, Wow: The Three Essential Prayers.” Among her novels are “Hard Laughter,” “Rosie,” “Joe Jones” and “Blue Shoe.” Her other non-fiction work includes “Bird by Bird,” “Traveling Mercies” and “Some Assembly Required: A Journal of My Son’s First Son.”

The Viking’s Cove Bookstore will be on hand to sell books prior to the event.
