The baseball team (4-4) lost to Monroe College (11-10), 14-1 and 4-1, on Thursday afternoon.
The lone bright spot for the Vikings in game one was Dan Ciaramella (Shaker/Latham) on the mound. Ciaramella held Monroe hitless over 1 2/3 innings, allowing no earned runs and striking out two.
The Vikings bounced back in game two with a strong effort. Eric Mueller (Bethlehem/Glenmont) reached base two times, driving in the lone run on a triple in the sixth. Chris Carmel (LaSalle/Waterford) pitched a solid five innings, striking out three, allowing only two runs.
The Vikings host Jefferson on Sunday at 1 p.m.
