The baseball team (12-16) split with Mohawk Valley Community College (13-12), losing game one 14-9 in eight innings and winning 11-2 in game two, on Thursday afternoon.
The Vikings rallied in game one of the bottom of the seventh behind a game tying two-run homerun from John Craig (Shenendehowa/Clifton Park), but the hawks put five runs on the board in extra innings to win 14-9. Kyle Brisson (Waterford-Halfmoon/Waterford) and Alex Lushkevich (Saratoga Springs/Saratoga Springs) each added two hits in the loss.
It was all Vikings in game two in which the team scored at least one run in every inning. Andrew Kozak (Sidney/Sidney) led the team with three hits and three runs scored, and Brisson chipped in another two hits and two RBIs. Sean Geisel (Guilderland/Guilderland) recorded a double, RBI, and one run scored, while Josh Temple (Cohoes/Cohoes) got the win on the mound pitching five strong innings.
The baseball team travels to Columbia-Greene Community College on Saturday, April 21 for a doubleheader starting at 1 p.m.
