Help Haitian Children Through This Volunteer Service Learning Project
On Jan. 12, 2010 Haiti suffered a terrible earthquake killing 300,000 people and leaving 1.5 million homeless. Since then Haiti continues to suffer from unbelievable tropical storms and flooding. It is a land of mud and disease in which thousands of children die each year.
Please join me in the challenge of saving the children of Haiti by filling a shoebox for a child. The shoebox may include notes of encouragement, school supplies, hard candies, non-perishable foods, socks, underwear and other items of interest to children. NO war games, rice, beans, soap, or used items may be placed in the shoebox.
If you are able to do so, a $5 donation* for each box would be appreciated for shipping costs to Haiti. Place this donation in a separate envelope marked, “shipping.” Please do not place it on the box.
The box should be wrapped in holiday paper with a label on it that indicates the gender and age of the child that the box is intended for. Please drop your box off in Higbee Hall, room 109, (Professor Cupolo’s office) no later than Thursday, Oct. 10.
* Make any checks payable to the Croatian Relief Services
