Rojas ranks among today’s foremost classical guitarists. Classical Guitar Magazine calls her the “ambassador of the classical guitar,” acknowledging her warmth and talent that’s captivated audiences throughout the world at Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center, London’s South Bank Centre, the National Concert Hall in Dublin and more.

Her performances and recordings are colorful journeys of music and sound that embrace diverse and new works by a variety of composers. Her Grammy nominations were “Día y Medio” (best instrumental album, a duet with Paquito D’Rivera), “Salsa Roja” (best classical album) and “History of Tango” (best tango album).

Rojas is committed to promoting the classical guitar and the music of her native Paraguay, and created the Barrios World Wide Web Competition, the first online classical guitar competition to assist young artists. She was honored by her country with the title Illustrious Ambassador of Musical Art and also named a Fellow of the Americas by the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, and recently joined the faculty of the prestigious Berklee College of Music (Boston).

Her appearance at HVCC is presented by the college’s Cultural Affairs Program in association with the Classical Guitar Society of Upstate New York.
