Blackboard Access ends Tuesday, Oct. 31, 2023, at 11:59 p.m.
- Access to Blackboard for the campus community (faculty, staff, and students) will end.
Distance and Online Learning and Instructional and Information Technology staff will retain access until Friday, Dec. 15, 2023, while they finalize data retention archiving with K16 Solutions.
Monday, Dec. 18, 2023
- The Blackboard instance will be retired and shut down permanently.
What should I do to prepare for Oct. 31st?
- If you have not already, please submit a D2L Course Shell Migration form to have any course content migrated from Blackboard to Brightspace.
- Export your Blackboard Course and save a copy of the export file to OneDrive or another cloud drive location.
- Download any student work you may need for future exemplary examples

What is being archived from Blackboard?
- To satisfy the college’s data retention requirements, the college contracted K16 Solutions. The archives created from Blackboard will include course data such as grade books. The archives cannot be used to restore courses or course content from Blackboard courses.
- Z Area courses will not be archived.
What about my Blackboard Organization?
Your organization will fall into one of the following categories:
- College Business Processes
- The organization functions are used for business within the college. You will no longer use the learning management system (i.e. Academic Senate and Committees, BOT, Bargaining Units, etc.), and you will work with IIT to move content to SharePoint.
- Academic
- If your organization interacts with or supports students, you will continue to use the learning management system (i.e., Academic programs, Writing and Research Center, or clubs).
- Please schedule an appointment with Elissa Baker to discuss your need for an organization.
Blackboard Organizations will not be archived.
