Blackboard end-of-semester procedures:
Student Access
Spring 2017 student access to Blackboard courses will end the morning of Saturday May, 13 2017.
It is a process that takes some time, so if you want to have all students in your course disabled at exactly the same time, you can make your course “Unavailable” at the date and time that you determine. (For example, if you want students to lose access Friday at midnight or even Thursday.) However, if you choose to make your course “Unavailable” earlier than Saturday, it would be helpful to post that information or email your students, so they are not confused by different access policies between multiple courses.
Incompletes
All Spring 2017 students given a grade of I (Incomplete) will be able to access the Spring 2017 courses again in Blackboard after grades are posted by the Registrar. Students who have an I (Incomplete) will remain enrolled in their Spring 2017 Blackboard course until either the grade converts or 30 days into the Fall 2017 semester. If faculty have assigned any student a grade of I (Incomplete), they must make their Spring 2017 course set to be “Available” in the Course Settings area in the Control Panel or the student will not be able to access the course.
Blackboard Updates
Blackboard will be conducting updates and fixes on Tuesday, May 16 beginning at 2 a.m. ET. Parts of the system will have errors while the upgrade is in progress, so it will require downtime to keep users from seeing errors.
The following known issues are resolved:
- Drag and Drop to Reorder Content Not Performing
- Attempt Statistics for Grade Center columns Unavailable
- Students Can’t Access Grades from Global Navigation
Please contact DLhelp@hvcc.edu or call 629-7070 if you have any questions or need assistance, or if you find anything not working as expected after the upgrade.
