Blackboard End of Semester Procedures

Student Access
Summer 2017 student access to Blackboard courses will end the morning of Saturday, Aug., 12 2017.

It is a process that takes some time, so if you want to have all students in your course disabled at exactly the same time, you can make your course “Unavailable” at the date and time that you determine. (For example, if you want students to lose access Friday at midnight.) However, if you choose to make your course “Unavailable” earlier than Saturday, it would be helpful to post that information or email your students, so they are not confused by different access policies between multiple courses.

Incompletes
All Summer 2017 students given a grade of I (Incomplete) will be able to access the Summer 2017 courses again in Blackboard after grades are posted by the Registrar. Students who have an I (Incomplete) will remain enrolled in their Summer 2017 Blackboard course until either the grade converts or 30 days into the Fall 2017 semester. If faculty have assigned any student a grade of I (Incomplete), they must make the Summer 2017 course set to be “Available” in the Course Settings area in the Control Panel or the student will not be able to access the course.

Blackboard Updates
Blackboard will be conducting updates and fixes on Tuesday, August 15. Although Blackboard has stated that no downtime will be necessary, please be mindful of this update if you are planning on being online on August 15.

Please contact DLhelp@hvcc.edu or call 629-7070 if you have any questions or if you find anything not working as expected after the updates.
